Get Outdoors Baby!

When I was pregnant, all the foods I craved were from my childhood. I relived the sticky-gooey combo of peanut butter + jelly, reunited with chocolate whole milk and rekindled my long-ago love affair with mac-n-cheese. When home for the holidays I made requests for tuna noodle casserole, Swedish meatballs, spaghetti with Prego, blt’s + corn on the cob… all my childhood favorites.

Then, when Leo finally arrived, he brought with him an even deeper connection to my own childhood. Once again I am experiencing the thrill of Christmas, the simple excitements of hearing a train’s horn, gazing at the moon + stars and whizzing down a slide. I’ve found, as his mother, I want to expose Leo to as much as possible in the world around him and I have a sense of responsibility to get him outdoors as much as possible.

The result… he’s been to places few babies have been before… the tops of many gorgeous North Carolina mountains. With the daily grind and owning a business for 5 years, I had really disconnected from my joy of hiking, but my little bundle of joy brought that back. We have set out on a mission to locate all the best trails in NC and beyond to hike with your little ones and a coworker encouraged me to start this blog as a way to share what we have discovered with others. So, I hope you enjoy and learn a little something about the majesty awaiting in your own backyard!

Love,
Kelly + Leo
